from Maharaja Sirohi. The small huts and cottages here tell that
it also served as a sanatorium for the British troops. According
to a legend, once a sage's cow got trapped in a gorge. Responding
to the sage's appeal the youngest son of Himalaya responded. The
sage filled the gorge permanently with the help of Arbud a mighty
snake. Hence, the place came to be known as Mount Arbud.
Places of interest: The Jain Temple of Dilwara is the main place
of visit here in Mount Abu. Often comparison is made between this
temple and the Taj Mahal of Agra in terms of their marble beauties.
The marble used in this temple comes all the way from Makrana, known
for its best quality marble. One should definitely seek the blessing
of the Arbuda Devi the goddess in the cave once you visit Mount
Abu. Guru Shikhar is the highest peak in attracting the attention
of the visitors of Mount Abu. A temple of Lord Vishnu adorns the
peak of Guru Shikhar. The picturesque beauty of Mount Abu can be
seen all over from this peak of mountain.
