Introduction: Mathura Vrindavan the twin city is also
known as Brajabhoomi. It is here all the sacred legend of Lord
Krishna evolves. Lord Krishna was born here and all the cosmic
pastime of the Lord occurred here. It is also a place full of
divine reminiscences. Mathura Vrindavan is located in Uttar Pradesh.
It is about 145 km south east of Delhi and 58 km north west of
Agra. Mathura Vrindavan is situated in the bank of river Yamuna.
The numerous temples in this city make inculcate spiritual and
religious environment. These two places are of vital importance
in the Hindu mythology.
History: Mathura is the root of Krishna disciples as everything
about Lord Krishna is evolved around Mathura and Vrindavan. Once
a king name Ugrasena was the ruler of Mathura. His queen was impregnated
by lustful means of a demon that wanted to own the queen. The
resulted child becomes Kansa. Kansa later dethrone his father
and imprisoned Devaki his cousin with her husband because Kansa
was alerted by a voice from heaven that the eighth child of Devaki
would kill him. Kansa kept killing every child born to Devaki.
Vasudeva was advised from heaven that he should exchange his eighth
child with the baby girl born to Yashoda and Nanda, a cowherd
in Vrindavan. By the arrangement of god Krishna safely grew on
Vrindavan and later killed Kansa.
Places of interest: Mathura Vrindavan is a place full of pilgrimage
shrines of Hindu. Shri Krishna Janmabhumi, the birthplace of Lord
Krishna is prime for all visitors to Mathura. A prison is kept
in a temple complex entrusted as the supposed birthplace of Lord
Krishna. Seth Gokuldas of Gwalior constructed the Dwarkadhish
Temple dedicating to Lord Krishna in the onset of the 19th century.
This temple performs colorful festivals throughout the year, which
in other hand attracts numerous pilgrims. Vishram Ghat is also
an important place where Lord Krishna took rest after killing
the demon king Kansa. Other important sites include Radha Damodar
Temple, Govinda Dev Temple, Banke-Bihari Temple, Krishna Balram
Mandir and Govardhan etc.

modes of transportation. Airways, Railways and Roadways are well
incorporated for traveling in this area. Agra is the nearest airport
from Vrindavan at 67 km. The major cities of India are connected
to Mathura railway station. Mathura is also linked by the state
bus services of major states through the major national highways.
Taxi, Tonga and Rickshaws serves as local transportation. Considering
the climatic condition, October to March is the best time to visit.
