Every morning head of goats chopped to satisfy the bloodlust of Lord Shiva. It is the most important pilgrimage spot for Hindus. Marble Palace is the main attraction of Kolkata having interesting collection of curios, statues, paintings and a private zoo. Located at Muktaram Babu Street, Chorebagan, Marble Palace was built by a Bengali landlord in 1835. Barrackpore enjoys high reputation as far as Indian independence struggle is concerned. This historical place witnessed the first Indian revolt against British rule in 1857. At the time of British rule, this place was country residence of the Viceroy. This place is named Barrackpore because of its military barracks.
