Introduction: Hyderabad is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. History: Hyderabad is a combined city of both the Islamic and the Hindu originations. It is entwined with Secunderabad. The foundation of the city of Hyderabad is laid by Muhammad Quli Qutab Shah, the fifth sultan of Golkonda in 1589. He intensely fell in love with Bagmati, a banjaran woman. He named the city after her name as Bhagya Nagar. He further enlarged the fort city of Golkonda in memory of his wife and entitled as Haider Mahal. With course of time Haider Mahal came to be known as Hyderabad. The city was surrounded by walls of stones that was washed with the flood of 1908.

Places of interest: Charminar is the main tourist spot of Hyderabad. It literally means four towers. To commemorate the end of an epidemic Plague, Muhammad Quli Qutab Shah built it in 1591. Salar Jung Museum is another important place to visit in Hyderabad. It is the world’s largest museum where the displays are collection of a single person. It is the collection of Sir Yusuf Ali Salar Jung III. Mecca Masjid is one of the largest Mosques in the world built in 1614 by Quli Qutab Shah. 10,000 worshipers can be accommodated at a time. Nehru Zoological Park is one of the largest zoological parks in India with 1.2 sq km area inhabiting 3000 species.

Travel information: Hyderabad is facilitated with both the domestic and international airports in just 16 km from the city at Begumpet. Sicanderabad, near Hyderabad is the main center and headquarter of south central railway of India. There is a railway station in the city itself too. The roadways have a good service in the city mobilizing with cities of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Orissa. The nearby cities and local transport is well developed in Hyderabad. Although the climate welcomes visitors all round the year but the best season to visit is from October to February.
