Places of Interest: Parthsarthy Temple is probably the oldest surviving temple in Chennai. Pallava Dynasty of South India built this spectacular temple in the 8th century. Parthsarthy Temple is famed for the beauty of its Gopuram (arched gateway) and its architecture. Kapaleeshwar Temple is a living example of the architectural skills of the Dravidians, constructed in the 13th century.  Kapaleeshwar temple is located in the Malaypore area of Chennai. The Santhome Cathedral is an important pilgrimage center. Persian Christians built this church in the memory of St Thomas who was believed to be arrived from Palestine around 25 AD.  Marina Beach is the major tourists attraction of Chennai. The beach spreads from Fort St. George all the way to Mahabalipuram. It is regarded as one of the longest beach of Asia. Like wise Fort St George, Guindy National Park, National Art Gallery and Birla Planetarium are other popular places of Chennai.
